Welcome to our website ! And Happy New Year to all Villagers
This is the official La Celle Guitar Village Website. La Celle, is a small village, part of the commune called Vernou la Celle sur Seine some 80 kilometers south of Paris, France. I specify Paris, France as opposed to Paris, Texas which we have all heard of too. Anyway if you want to know more about it go to www.mairie-vernou-celle77.fr Vernou la Celle may not be very famous but most of our young guitarists come from a village called Samois sur Seine http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/SRoyall/samoir.htm . If you have ever heard about Django Reinhardt or Stéphane Grapelli and their Hot Club of France, it might ring a bell, as Django is buried there and a great jazz festival http://django.samois.free.fr/ bearing his name takes place every year on an island opposite Samois sur Seine http://www.pigalle44.nl/samois.html. That will be at the end of June 2002, but the next big event for The Guitar Village Group is on 21st June 2002. That will surely be the best as each year the concerts get better and I do less and less. There is the project this year of making contact with a guitar teacher in Great Britain so as to set up an exchange programme between our young French guitarists and a few young Brits. If anyone is interested mail me at alasdair.mckerrell@wanadoo.fr and we will set up a special exchange page with the candidates and e-mail links.If you don't live too far away you can check out dates for the groups in the Fontainebleau/Sens/Melun région(motor transport essential). Rumour has it that he is up to number sixty in the back garden(or could that just be another number in the Kama Sutra?). I've played some of his guitars, so I can guarantee the quality. Heh Rog , fancy sponsoring someone?Rog is even less famous for his minature guitar making and the town hall may consider not putting a memorial plaque if you don't all order guitars from him and thus give him a chance to run for mayor.
